APA Cancels 2020 Annual Meeting/Info Fair During Coronavirus Uncertainty

Each year, EWTA and APA look forward to connecting with members to share industry news and plan for our collective future. Given continued uncertainty around COVID-19, APA made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of this fall’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Info Fair. This was a hard call to make. The Annual Meeting and Info Fair are important events, and it’s one of our favorite ways to connect with all of you.

We look forward to a time in 2021 when we can gather with confidence again for the face-to-face meetings we find so valuable. In the meantime, we will continue to serve our EWTA and APA members using video conference and online tools to stay connected. We appreciate your support and patience as we work through this difficult year together. If you have questions or concerns, please contact LaDauna Wilson at ladauna.wilson@apawood.org.

Production Down in Second Quarter

It should not be surprising that production was down across all product lines in the second quarter. The most severe output declines were in LVL and I-joists, down 24% and 18%, respectively. The declines in these two product lines are consistent with the 23.6% decline in single-family starts from the first quarter to the second quarter. OSB and plywood production held up better, with production falling 6% and 8% from the first quarter. The second quarter production values across all product lines were also below that of the second quarter of 2019 by roughly the same proportions as the drop from the first quarter of this year.
