EWTA and APA Management Team Integration Update

EWTA members have new contacts at the association following the recent incorporation of EWTA management into the APA organization. LaDauna Wilson rejoined the Market Communications Division as EWTA’s dedicated program manager. She has been part of APA staff for more than 20 years working in quality services and marketing and provides an understanding of the engineered wood industry, as well as initiative and organizational and communication skills. She looks forward to meeting and working with members and can be reached at ladauna.wilson@apawood.org, or 253 620-7483.

Wilson will work closely with APA’s market communications director, Tara Mattina, and other APA staff to dovetail membership services, back-office support, meeting organization and communications.

EWTA PROGRAM FUNDING UPDATE:
APA Develops New One-Hour Single-Layer Fire-Rated I-Joist Floor/Ceiling Assembly

A new full-scale fire-rated assembly test, funded by the Engineered Wood Technology Association, was conducted Dec. 6 at an accredited independent fire laboratory under the witness of representatives from several APA I-joist members. This one-hour single-layer fire-rated I-joist assembly saves construction costs and is welcome news for light commercial construction, especially in California, as compared to the double-layer assemblies that are typically required for one-hour fire-rating. Based on the results of this test, and working with I-joist members, APA technical staff successfully developed a new one-hour single-layer fire-rated floor/ceiling assembly. Once published, APA plans to make this new fire-rated assembly available to the industry.

Thank you for your input on EWTA Benefits

In a survey sent last month to members, we asked you to rate the benefits of EWTA membership and provide input on preferred methods of communication and offer suggestions for opportunities for improvement.

The results show that the highest-ranking benefits include APA’s monthly housing reports, access to APA annual meetings, exhibiting at the EWTA Info Fair and listing company information and profiles on the EWTA website and in the Engineered Wood Journal. Email communication is the predominant preference, with several respondents also including the website as a choice for obtaining association information. There were only a few suggestions for improvements, of which interaction and outreach with both APA and EWTA members were cited. Thank you for your input. This information will be used to develop and review programs and focus on improvements throughout the year. If you have additional feedback, contact LaDauna Wilson at ladauna.wilson@apawood.org.
