2020 EWTA Supplier Awards

Although we are not gathering this fall for the APA Annual Meeting and EWTA Info Fair, the Supplier Awards program is proceeding. Web-based ballots will be sent electronically to all APA member executives and mill managers in late October for voting for the Supplier of the Year and Innovations of the Year Awards.
The EWTA Supplier Awards Program is designed to recognize EWTA member companies that excel in serving their APA member manufacturer customers and in developing innovative solutions to processing problems and challenges. The program consists of two components:

  • Supplier of the Year Awards
Awards are presented in each of EWTA’s three membership categories: Equipment/Tooling, Materials/Supplies and Consulting/Services. All EWTA member companies in good standing are eligible to participate.
  • Innovation of the Year Award
The Innovation of the Year Award recognizes a company providing a new technology, product or service that has been shown to demonstrably reduce production costs, increase productivity, improve product quality or in some other way provide a bottom-line benefit to APA members. EWTA is now accepting entries for the 2020 Innovation of the Year Award. Visit the EWTA Supplier Awards Program website for complete details. Entry deadline is October 15.

The winners will be announced in the Engineered Wood Journal and Connections newsletter and featured on the EWTA website.

Good News: Housing Starts Remain Steady

August reports show that housing starts in the U.S. remained above the 1.4 million units annualized rate level. Single-family construction exceeded 1 million units, annualized, back to where it was prior to the COVID-19 disruption. Housing starts in Canada ran at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 264,000 units driven by the strength in multifamily demand. Builder sentiment jumped to a record high in the September survey conducted by the National Association of Home Builders. Home sales in the U.S. and Canada continue to boom and are greater than they were prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. The monthly indicators for employment, retail sales and industrial production continue to improve from their April troughs. The one end-use market that is challenged is nonresidential, primarily in lodging and commercial establishments, excluding warehouses.
A link to the full report was sent to EWTA members last week. If you didn’t receive it, contact LaDauna Wilson.
